Abstract
The post-truth era, marked by the erosion of boundaries between fact and opinion, has led to a truth crisis among young people, including students at SMA Negeri 1 Bambanglipuro, Bantul. Within this condition, the circulation of unverified religious digital information has fostered polarization, hate speech, and intolerance in the digital public sphere. This phenomenon reveals weak critical reasoning and poor digital religious literacy among students influenced by algorithmic emotional truth. Consequently, religious education faces a major challenge in cultivating balanced, just, and contextual values of religious moderation. The Saung Moderasi Beragama (SAMBA) serves as an educational innovation that integrates moral instruction, spiritual reflection, and digital literacy within a single social space to nurture peaceful and rational religiosity in the post-truth era. This study employs a qualitative approach with an intrinsic case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with SAMBA mentors, religious teachers, SAMBA members and non-members, as well as documentation of digital activities and reflective religious practices. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model involving data reduction, data display, and verification through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal three major results. First, the internalization of religious moderation occurs through language and social interaction, the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD), and scaffolding, fostering reflective spiritual awareness grounded in dialogical and collaborative learning. Second, the internalized values serve as the foundation for digital religious literacy through the processes of hybridization, identity formation, authority negotiation, and community building, as theorized by Campbell, positioning SAMBA as an integrative space between offline and online religious practices. Third, these processes lead to a transformation of students’ religious consciousness, a strengthening of moderation-based digital religious literacy, and the formation of a moderate digital identity, providing moral resilience and reflective reasoning in navigating disinformation, polarization, and truth decay in the post-truth era. This study contributes to the development of the Digital Religious Moderation Framework, an innovative Islamic educational model that integrates religious moderation, digital literacy, and social learning as a transformative response to contemporary digital religiosity.
