Abstract

This studyaims to describe the forms of self-control among adolescents inreducing online gambling addiction. The background of this study is basedon the increasing phenomenon of online gambling among adolescents, which isinfluenced by curiosity, peer pressure, and the urge togain instant financial benefits. The research used a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and observation of four informants who had more than one year of experience in online gambling. The data were analyzed using the theory of self-control, which includes fivemain forms, namely control of emotions, impulses, behavior, thoughts, and time.The results of the study showed that the four informants had five forms of self-control, namely control of emotions, control of impulses, control of behavior, control of desires, and control of self in social relationships. The results of the study show that the four informants possess the five forms of self-control, namely emotional control, impulse control, behavioral control, desire control, and self-control in social relationships.
