Abstract

Unemployment is a serious problem in economic development in many countries. Significant unemployment is prevalent in developing countries. As a developing country, the D-8 still faces significant challenges related to unemployment. One factor influencing unemployment is economic growth. Economic growth is an important indicator that can be used to determine the economic condition of a country in a given period. On the other hand, trade openness, foreign direct investment (FDI), and inflation also have a significant impact on labor absorption and unemployment rates. This study aims to analyze the role of economic growth, trade openness, foreign direct investment (FDI), and inflation in influencing unemployment in the D-8 countries. This study uses secondary data taken from the World Bank. This study uses a fixed effect model method with a sample of eight countries belonging to the D-8 countries. The results of this study indicate that the variables of economic growth, foreign direct investment (FDI), and inflation have a negative effect on unemployment. Furthermore, the variable of trade openness has a positive effect on unemployment in the eight countries belonging to the D-8 countries.
