Abstract

This study aims to compare the resistivity values of the Wenner and Schlumberger configurations in identifying subsurface characteristics in areas with potential for landslides in Gerbosari and Ngargosari Villages, Samigaluh District, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. The method used is geoelectric to obtain resistivity values related to the lithology of the subsurface layer. Data collection was carried out on five measurement paths with a span length of 260 and 300 meters, respectively. Data processing was carried out using Res2Dinv software for the Wenner configuration and Progress for the Schlumberger configuration, then two-dimensional (2D) inversion and interpretation processes were carried out. The results showed that the Wenner configuration had better lateral sensitivity with an average RMS error value of 11.70%, while the Schlumberger configuration was more sensitive to vertical with an average RMS error value of 21.89%. The resistivity values obtained ranged from 0.52 to 4215.00 Ωm, indicating the presence of layers of soil, clay, sandstone, and andesite. Low resistivity values (<12 Ωm) were interpreted as water-saturated clay layers that have the potential to become slip surfaces for potential ground motion. Overall, the Wenner configuration was more effective in detecting lateral distribution, while the Schlumberger configuration was superior for detecting hard rock layers. The Wenner configuration was more precise because it had a more noise-resistant resistivity change response to shallow depths, so it was able to describe the distribution of water-saturated clay more clearly and stably than the Schlumberger configuration. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for geoelectric-based landslide mitigation in the Kulon Progo hilly area.
