Abstract
Education is a fundamental right for every child, part as WAJAR or Wajib Belajar program for Indonesian child, 12-Year of study, as mentioned in UU No. 20 of 2003. However, in practice, various problems in the education sector have not been adequately addressed, one of them is the high rate of school dropouts. In 2025, it recorded that 881,168 children in Indonesia dropped out of school. SDN 02 Pecakaran, located in Wonokerto District, as one of the areas with a relatively high dropout rate in Pekalongan Regency, Central Java was chosenَّ asَّ theَّ researchَّ site.َّ Thisَّ studyَّ conductedَّ byَّ referenceَّ Pierreَّ Bourdieu’sَّ theoryَّ ofَّ social practice on the analyses and focuses on two research questions: (1) What factors underlie the occurrence of school dropouts at SDN 02 Pecakaran and (2) How can the dropoutَّ phenomenonَّ atَّ SDNَّ 02َّ Pecakaranَّ beَّ explainedَّ throughَّ Bourdieu’sَّ theoryَّ ofَّ social practice. The research was conducted using observation and interviews, the data are analyzed through a qualitative approach. The results showed that the primary factors contributing to school dropouts at SDN 02 Pecakaran are external factors (environmental) influences that affect internal factors (self-motivation).َّ Bourdieu’sَّ theoryَّ ofَّ socialَّ practiceَّ showed that a low educational habitus leads to limited forms of capital, which in turn hinder anَّ individual’sَّ abilityَّ toَّ persistَّ withinَّ theَّ educationalَّ arena.َّ Therefore,َّ addressingَّ schoolَّ dropouts requires more than behavioral interventions at the individual level; it also necessitates structuralَّ changesَّ aimedَّ atَّ strengtheningَّ theَّ community’sَّ economic,َّ social,َّ and cultural capital.
