Abstract

Culinary tourism is one of the tourism sectors that has great potential to enhance the economy and welfare of local communities. One form of culinary tourism that has developed in Bantul Regency is Sate Klathak Pak Pong Culinary Tourism, located in Jejeran, Pleret. This study aims to examine the impact of Sate Klathak Pak Pong Culinary Tourism on the economy and welfare of the surrounding local community. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The research informants consist of culinary tourism managers, employees, traders around the tourism area, local farmers, and local government officials. The findings indicate that Sate Klathak Pak Pong Culinary Tourism has a positive impact on the local economy. This impact is reflected in the absorption of 150 workers, 50 of whom are members of the local community. This condition contributes economically by providing more stable sources of income for local residents. In addition, this culinary tourism also increases the income of local farmers who act as suppliers of raw materials, as well as micro-business actors around the tourism area. However, the increase in income is not evenly distributed, as it is influenced by the type of business and proximity to the center of tourism activities. From a welfare perspective, Sate Klathak Pak Pong Culinary Tourism contributes to improving the standard of living of the local community. This improvement includes the fulfillment of primary and secondary needs, increased ability to finance education, ownership of savings and assets, and the ability to engage in recreational activities. Thus, Sate Klathak Pak Pong Culinary Tourism not only serves as a tourist destination but also functions as an economic driver and a means of empowering the local community.
