Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of community participation in developing Islamic educational institutions, particularly in funding and financial management aspects. Limited government funding encourages madrasahs to innovate through implementing community-based financial management. MI Nurul Huda Nahdlatul Wathan Gegurun, East Lombok, serves as an example of an institution that has developed through active community participation in financial planning, implementation, and monitoring. This research aims to analyze the implementation of community-based financial management, including planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. This research employs a qualitative approach with analytical descriptive methods. Informants were determined through purposive sampling, including the madrasah principal, teachers, community leaders, and madrasah committee members. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana interactive model. Data validity was tested through: (1) credibility by source triangulation, technique triangulation, prolonged observation, increased persistence, and use of reference materials; (2) transferability through detailed presentation of research context; (3) dependability through research process audits by supervisors; and (4) confirmability through verification of research results with the conducted process. The research findings show: (1) financial planning is conducted participatively through deliberation to determine priority needs and funding sources; (2) financial organizing is implemented collaboratively with clear role division, creating a transparent and accountable system; (3) implementation is carried out through community self-help fundraising managed through RAPBM for infrastructure development and educational quality improvement; and (4) monitoring is conducted routinely by committee and community leaders through evaluation meetings to ensure fund usage aligns with mutual agreements.
