Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of economic stability, governance, and labor productivity on foreign investment. The variables of inflation, economic growth, and poverty represent economic stability. The labor aspect is measured by the quality of human resources and labor wages, while governance is influenced by the level of corruption. Single investment is measured using the variable of foreign direct investment (FDI). This study uses a sample of 38 OECD member countries for the period 2002–2023. The analysis method uses the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) model within a Panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (Panel ARDL) framework to identify long-term and short-term relationships between variables. The estimation results show that inflation, economic growth, corruption, and poverty have a negative and significant effect on FDI, while labor wages have a positive and significant effect. Meanwhile, human resource quality has a negative but insignificant effect on foreign direct investment. Consistent economic policies and institutional reforms are key prerequisites for attracting sustainable investment. Academically, this study extends the literature by integrating economic, labor, and institutional factors within a dynamic panel empirical framework.
