Abstract

The study of hadiths concerning the signs of the Day of Judgment constitutes an important theme in Hadith studies, as it is closely related to Islamic eschatological understanding and the construction of religious discourse within society. This research aims to examine the construction of hadiths on the signs of the Day of Judgment through a thematic (maudhu‘i) approach, focusing on the hadiths contained in the books of kitab Sunan Ibnu Majah, Tirmidzi, Abu Daud, and Annasai. This study employs library research as its method, with primary data sources consisting of the kitab Sunan Ibnu Majah, Tirmidzi, Abu Daud, and Annasai, and secondary data drawn from hadith commentaries and other relevant scholarly works. The research methods include the collection of hadiths related to the signs of the Day of Judgment, thematic classification, and analysis of their transmission patterns and thematic characteristics. The findings indicate that hadiths on the signs of the Day of Judgment in the Sunan books exhibit diverse thematic constructions in terms of wording, context of narration, and emphasis of meaning, reflecting the compilers’ concern with moral warning, strengthening of faith, and ethical preparedness of the Muslim community. This study is expected to contribute to the development of thematic hadith studies and to serve as a preliminary reference for a more systematic and balanced understanding of hadiths concerning the signs of the Day of Judgment.
