Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of body dissatisfaction on the mental health of students at the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This phenomenon is important to investigate as body dissatisfaction is often associated with individuals’ psychological conditions, particularly during early adulthood. The research employed a quantitative approach using a simple regression design. The participants consisted of 170 students selected through a simple random sampling technique. The instruments used in this study were the Body Dissatisfaction Scale and the Mental Health Scale, both of which had undergone validity and reliability testing. The results of the regression analysis indicated a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), suggesting that body dissatisfaction does not have a statistically significant effect on the mental health of students at the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. These findings indicate that the proposed hypothesis was not supported. It implies that the mental health of students may be influenced by other factors.
