Abstract
This research is motivated by the rapid development of the era, which encourages Islamic educational institutions to continuously innovate. Islamic educational institutions are required to present superior programs to shape Islamic character and emphasize the instillation of religious values, particularly love for the Qur’an. One such institution is YPI Tsamrotul Hidayah Pecangaan Jepara, which organizes several programs such as Islamic Boarding School, TPQ using the Yanbu’a method, KB Sahida Kids, Majelis Taklim, and Madrasah Tahfiz Program. The Qur’an memorization (tahfiz) program is implemented using a night-school system, which is highly popular among the community as an initial preparation for children before entering Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to examine the management of the tahfiz program at YPI Tsamrotul Hidayah Pecangaan Jepara and to analyze the fulfillment of Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of basic needs in the management of the tahfiz program as an effort to increase children’s interest in memorizing the Qur’an at the elementary school/Islamic elementary school level. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, while data validity is obtained through source and method triangulation. The research results show that the management of the tahfiz program is carried out through planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and supervising. The increase in students' interest in memorization is achieved through fulfilling Abraham Maslow's basic needs, namely physiological needs by ensuring students' comfort and fitness, safety needs through a safe and comfortable learning environment, social needs through enjoyable memorization methods and positive interactions among students, teachers, and parents, esteem needs through recording the progress of memorization and tahfiz graduation activities, and selfactualization needs through the halaqah system with flexible memorization targets. Thus, the tahfiz program not only enhances interest in memorizing the Qur’an but also prepares students academically and psychologically to enter the world of Islamic boarding schools.
