Abstract

This research is motivated by the urgency of improving student literacy through the use of national assessment as a systematic evaluation instrument that assesses the Minimum Competency Assessment indicators (literacy & numeracy), character surveys, and learning environment surveys. Properly planned strategic management will facilitate the implementation of national assessments aimed at assessing the quality of school education. This study found that the implementation of the National Assessment at MAN 1 Wonosobo showed fluctuations (increases and decreases) in madrasah report cards. This study aims to describe the strategic management of the principal at MAN 1 Wonosobo in an effort to follow up on the results of the national assessment to improve student literacy. This study uses a qualitative approach located in MAN 1 Wonosobo. With the main subjects of the research principal, vice principal for curriculum, and teachers involved as an assessment team or based on 3M, namely knowing, understanding, and experiencing, Data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation, then the data is analyzed through data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The process of source triangulation and technique triangulation is used to ensure the validity of the findings or the validity of the data. The results of the study indicate that the principal plays a significant role in formulating follow-up strategies through the identification of National Assessment (AN) achievements in the AKM, Character Survey, and Learning Environment Survey. The strategy implementation is realized through the formation of work teams, the development of data-based learning programs, strengthening teacher competencies, optimizing infrastructure, and integrating the values of the Pancasila Student Profile. Barriers such as resistance from some students and uneven understanding of parents and students regarding the objectives of the AN implementation are overcome through intensive communication, socialization, training, and internal collaboration. Overall, this strategy has a positive impact on improving the quality of learning, academic culture, and student achievement. This study confirms that the follow-up of National Assessment results is a strategic component in improving the quality of education, specifically in improving student literacy in the follow-up process.
