Abstract

Character education is an important part of the educational process in madrasas, but problems such as low discipline, responsibility, patience, practice of noble morals, love for the Qur'an in students are found. To overcome this, Mts Negeri 1 Sleman implemented a program to strengthen the Rahmatan Lil 'Alamin Student Profile (P2RA) through extracurricular activities of memorizing the Qur'an as a means of character formation. This study aims to describe the role of P2RA in shaping student character through memorizing the Qur'an and identifying the character values developed. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to examine the role of the Rahmatn Lil 'Alamin Student Profile Strengthening Program in character formation. The research subjects included tahfidz teachers, the Deputy Head of Curriculum, parents, and students participating in the Al-Quran tahfidz extracurricular program. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity was tested through source and method triangulation techniques. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data condensation, data display, and data verification. Through this method, it is hoped that a comprehensive picture of the implications of P2RA and the character values formed in students through Al-Quran tahfidz activities is obtained. The results of the study indicate that the extracurricular activities of tahfidz at Mts Negeri 1 Sleman play a significant role in shaping character that reflects P2RA. The values of discipline, responsibility, patience, noble morals, love for the Qur'an. These values are formed through a process of habituation in the activities of memorizing the Qur'an, murojaah, and moral habituation. The implementation of these values is supported by the exemplary behavior of tahfidz teachers, a conducive madrasah environment and the integration of the tahfidz program with madrasah culture, thus impacting the character of students in the madrasah environment and in daily life which is carried out continuously in tahfidz activities, both through student interactions with supervising teachers and between students.
