Abstract
Early marriage remains a common phenomenon in rural communities, including in Sitimulyo Village, Piyungan District, Bantul Regency. This condition necessitates an in-depth study of how young couples are able to build and maintain family resilience amid various limitations they face. This study aims to describe the family resilience of young couples in Sitimulyo Village and to analyze the factors that support such resilience using Talcott Parsons' Structural Functional theory. This research is a descriptive-analytical field study with an empirical approach. The research subjects consisted of six young couples selected through random sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation, then analyzed qualitatively using the inductive method of the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that the family resilience of young couples in Sitimulyo Village is in a relatively stable condition. All couples were able to maintain their household for five to eleven years despite their marriages being motivated by parental pressure, matchmaking, or out-of-wedlock pregnancy. Based on the analysis of Talcott Parsons' Structural Functional theory through the AGIL framework, four main factors were found to support family resilience, namely religious values as the primary foundation (Latency), shared commitment to building a sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah family (Goal Attainment), effective communication and conflict resolution through deliberation (Integration), and the ability to adapt and learn from experience (Adaptation). These four factors are interrelated and mutually reinforcing, enabling the formation of strong family resilience even though some couples began their marriages in less than ideal conditions.
