Abstract

The transportation problem is one of the important issues in operations research related to the distribution of goods from several sources to multiple destinations with the objective of minimizing total transportation costs or maximizing profits. PT SiCepat Ekspres Indonesia Area Bandung Raya, as a logistics servive company, has a distribution system involving three source hubs, namely Cimahi HUB, KBB HUB, and Pasir Koja HUB, as well a six destination outlets, namely Cimahi Selatan, Cimahi Utara, Cisarua, Padalarang, Rajawali, and Lengkong. This study aims to compare two initial solution methods, namely the Total Opportunity Cost Matrix – Modified Least Cost Method (TOCM-MEDM) and Minimum Demand Method (MDM), and to test the optimality of the obtained solutions using the Loop Product Difference Method (LPDM). The results show that initial solution obtained using the TOCM-MEDM method yields a total transportation cast of Rp.112.772.000,00, while the MDM method produces a cost of Rp 123.346.000,00. Furthermore, the optimality test using the LPDM method indicates that the solution obtained from the TOCM-MEDM methodhas achieved the minimum transportation cost of Rp.112.772.000,00. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the TOCM-MEDM method is more efficient in producing an initial an initial solution that is closer to the optimal solution for the case studied. V
