Abstract
This research is motivated by the high frequency of natural disasters in Indonesia, including the 2022 earthquake in Cianjur Regency, which requires effective communication management in crisis situations. This study aims to analyze how communication management was implemented by Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) in responding to the natural disaster crisis in Cianjur. The study applies communication management theory consisting of planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling, as well as disaster communication concepts emphasizing accurate information, effective and participatory communication, transparency, and mutual understanding of needs. A qualitative research method with a case study approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and validated using source triangulation. The findings indicate that MDMC implemented systematic communication management through the establishment of coordination posts, structured volunteer task distribution, utilization of internal and external communication channels, and tiered reporting mechanisms between central and regional levels. Although challenges emerged in information synchronization and dynamic field conditions, the implemented communication management contributed to relatively effective cross-sector coordination during the emergency response phase.
