Abstract
The operational working environment at the PT. KMX workshop poses significant hazards that threaten workers’ safety and health, particularly during welding, assembly, and heavy machinery repair activities. Data from 2025 indicates workplace accidents resulting in serious physical injuries and fatalities, thereby necessitating a comprehensive occupational safety analysis. This study aims to identify potential hazards, determine risk values using the HIRARC method (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control), and provide recommendations for risk control at the PT. KMX workshop. This study employs the HIRARC method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires administered to 25 respondents. Risk assessment was conducted by measuring the likelihood and severity of risks, followed by the determination of risk controls based on the hierarchy of controls. The analysis results revealed 15 types of potential hazards with 39 specific risks arising from 12 operational activities. The assessment results indicated 5 high-category risks (such as dense welding fumes and fire hazards), 32 medium-category risks (such as physical fatigue and hand entrapment), and 2 low-category risks. The analysis identified a total of 39 risks in workshop operational activities. Risk control recommendations were formulated based on the hierarchy of controls, prioritising substitution and engineering controls to address risks at source, supported by administrative controls and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
