Abstract

The low interest and learning outcomes of students in social studies are partly triggered by the lack of use of interactive learning media. Based on observations and interviews conducted with social studies teachers and fifthgrade elementary school students, it was found that social studies learning is still not optimally implemented using only PowerPoint and textbooks. This causes students to feel bored, lack focus, and are not interested in studying social studies material. This condition indicates that interest and learning outcomes in social studies in fifth-grade elementary school are still low and require a more interactive and contextual approach to increase student engagement. This study aims to determine: (1) the design and development of video learning media based on local wisdom culture to improve student interest and learning outcomes, (2) the feasibility of video learning media based on local wisdom culture to improve student interest and learning outcomes, (3) the effectiveness of video learning media based on local wisdom culture to improve student interest in learning, and (4) the effectiveness of video learning media based on local wisdom culture to improve student learning outcomes. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE (Analysis-Design-Development Implementation-Evaluation) model with a quasi-experimental design. Data were collected through validation sheets, test questions and learning interest questionnaires, then analyzed using validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity, Paired Sample t-test, Independent Sample ttest, and N-Gain calculations. The results of the study indicate that: 1) learning video media based on local wisdom culture was developed through 5 stages, namely: analysis of needs in the field, designing videos based on local wisdom culture, testing the feasibility and practicality of learning videos, implementing video media in social studies learning and evaluating learning outcomes from the use of the video media. 2) product feasibility is indicated by the teacher response value of 75% and student response of 79% which is classified as good category, learning videos are effective in increasing interest and learning outcomes with evidence of an average value of 42.68 before the application of the media increased after treatment by 54.87 which is strengthened by the results of the hypothesis test where the sig value (2-tailed) 0.000 <0.05 and the t count value of 5.156> t table 2.015. Likewise, the students' learning outcomes with an average pre-test score of 62.74 increased in the post-test by 91.77 which was strengthened by the results of the hypothesis test where the sig value (2-tailed) was 0.000 <0.05 and the t-count value was 10.109> t-table 2.015 with an N-Gain of 0.78 which was classified as high. This study proves that the use of video learning media based on local wisdom culture is effective in increasing interest and learning outcomes in the social studies subject of class V of Elementary School.
