Abstract

The Muscovy duck (Cairina moschata) is a type of waterfowl that possesses distinctive skeletal anatomical characteristics as an adaptation to a semi-aquatic environment. This study was conducted to determine the skeletal anatomical structure and the procedure for preparing a skeleton specimen of the Muscovy duck (Cairina moschata), as well as to identify the development process and quality of a skeletal anatomy atlas as a biology learning resource for Grade XI SMA/MA students. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method and Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, limited to the development stage. The research sample consisted of one male Muscovy duck whose skeletal structure was observed through a prepared skeleton specimen. The anatomical observation results were then developed into an atlas using the Canva application through stages of content organization, layout design, and product printing. The developed atlas was evaluated by one material expert, one media expert, five peer reviewers, one biology teacher, and 30 Grade XI students of MAN 2 Sleman. The evaluation results showed that the skeletal anatomy atlas of the Muscovy duck (Cairina moschata) achieved an excellent qualification, with scores of 85% (Good Quality) from the material expert, 95% (Very Good Quality) from the media expert, 96% (Very Good Quality) from peer reviewers, 99% (Very Good Quality) from the biology teacher, and 94% (Very Good Quality) from students. Therefore, the developed atlas can be used as an effective and contextual alternative learning resource for skeletal system material in SMA/MA.
