Abstract
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of a paludarium-based projectbased learning (PjBL) model in enhancing the collaboration skills and learning outcomes of 10th-grade students at MAN 5 Sleman on biogeochemical cycles material. The method used was a Quasi Experiment with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of two classes selected through purposive sampling based on student characteristic, number, and abilities, namely 32 students from Class X-A as the experimental group (paludarium-based PjBL) and 31 students from Class X-B as the control group (Direct Instruction). The research instruments included multiple-choice tests to measure learning outcomes and questionnaire to measure collaboration skills. Both instruments underwent validity and reliability testing before use. Data analysis was performed using Jamovi 2.7.6. Collaboration skill data were analyzed descriptive statistics and using an Independent Sample T-Test. The analysis of learning outcome data included descriptive statistics, N-Gain, Paired Sample T-Test, and Independent Sample T-Test. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of a paludarium-based PjBL model is quite effective in enhancing collaboration skills. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the experimental class and the control class, as indicated by the Sig. (2-tailed) p-value of 0.398 > α 0.05. therefore, so H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected. The implementation of the paludarium-based PjBL model is quite effective in enhancing student learning outcomes, as evidenced by the higher N-Gain score of the experimental class (0.37) compared to the N-Gain score in the control class (0.10). However, there was no statistically significant difference between the experimental and control classes based on the results of the Independent Sample T-Test, with a Sig. (2- tailed) p-value of <.001, which is greater than α 0.05; thus, H0 was accepted and Ha was rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that PjBL model has possitive effect on enhancing collaboration skills and learning outcomes in the biogeochemical cycle material for 10th-grade students at MAN 5 Sleman.
