Abstract
CV. Jagal Kayu Sejahtera Abadi is a manufacturing company engaged in the production of wooden tableware, kitchenware, and handicrafts using a make-toorder production system. The complexity of the production process involving machinery, wood materials, and manual work activities creates various potential hazards that may lead to workplace accidents and disrupt production targets. Therefore, systematic hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control efforts are required. This study aims to identify potential hazards, assess risk levels using the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) method, and provide risk control recommendations through the Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) method. Hazard validation was conducted using the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) method based on assessments from five supervisor-level workers to ensure the relevance of identified hazards. Risk levels were determined by combining severity and likelihood values using a risk matrix. The results identified 19 validated hazard sources, dominated by chemical hazards such as wood dust, sanding dust, coating vapor exposure, and fire potential. The sanding process had the highest number of hazard findings, while the shaping process showed the highest average risk score of 20. Risk classification consisted of 16% extreme, 26% high, 42% moderate, and 16% low categories. Proposed risk controls included 10 substitution actions, 16 engineering controls, 19 administrative controls, and 15 uses of personal protective equipment (PPE). Additional recommendations included occupational safety SOPs, hazard posters, safety signs, work accident report sheets, and first aid kit standards to support a safer working environment.
