Abstract

This study aims to describe the stages of dhikr therapy for drug addicts at Tetirah Zikir Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects include the boarding school management, counselors, and former drug-addicted students. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that dhikr therapy is implemented through three main stages: takhalli (self-purification from negative behaviors), tahalli (filling oneself with positive values through worship and remembrance), and tajalli (the emergence of deep spiritual awareness). The methods applied include repentance bathing, obligatory and voluntary prayers, dhikr, night prayers, and other religious activities. The impacts of dhikr therapy on students include psychological improvements such as inner peace and better self-control, as well as spiritual enhancement reflected in a stronger connection with God. In addition, students demonstrate positive behavioral changes and improved social functioning. Therefore, dhikr therapy proves to be an effective holistic approach in the rehabilitation of drug addicts.
