Abstract
The phenomenon of hoax news emerging all the time through cyber media is produced by individuals or groups with the aim of causing unrest in society. This research attempts to map the views of a number of Muslim figures regarding hoax information in virtual spaces. This research method uses qualitative with a virtual ethnographic approach. The data collection technique is through selecting Muslim figures as primary sources and secondary sources include scientific literature, journals or websites on social media. This research shows that tabayyun attitude, filtering before sharing, and cross-checking the truth of information on a number of digital platforms are concrete steps to fight hoaxes. Muslim figures take an important role in campaigning for da'wah literacy among the people, being critical in responding to the ongoing onslaught of information on social media. In turn, this condition creates a media literate society that carefully receives information on various digital media channels.
