Abstract
In the era of digitalization, zakat and alms fundraising institutions have undergone a transition in their fundraising strategies and institutional management. The use of technologies such as QRIS, mobile banking, social media, and content creators has become part of the strategies for raising zakat and alms funds. In addition, fundraising institutions tend to prioritize maximizing fund collection through social media rather than developing strong and equitable socio-economic networks as a basis for fundraising. This has resulted in fundraising institutions with greater visibility on social media receiving more zakat and alms funds than fundraising institutions operating at the local level or within small communities, such as mosques. A distinctive phenomenon can be observed at the Lazismu Service Office (KL) of At-Tanwir Al-Kazhim Mosque. Despite being mosque-based, the Lazismu Service Office of At-Tanwir Al-Kazhim Mosque is able to provide monthly financial assistance of IDR 300,000 to 30 poor households living within a three-kilometer radius of At-Tanwir Al-Kazhim Mosque. This study aims to examine in detail the fundraising strategies used to collect funds and to identify how internal and external factors contribute to the success of these fundraising strategies. This study is qualitative field research. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that donation cans, printed pamphlets, zakat and alms educational sessions, WhatsApp groups, and social media constitute a combination of traditional and modern fundraising strategies that have generated significant results. Institutional management practices, including report documentation, regular meetings and monitoring, collaboration with various institutions, the involvement of Muhammadiyah cadres, and shared norms, are key factors contributing to the success of the fundraising strategies implemented by the Lazismu Service Office of At-Tanwir Al-Kazhim Mosque. This success is reflected in the increasing number of donors (muzakki) contributing zakat and alms to the institution, as demonstrated by the expansion of its financial assistance program from supporting three poor households in early 2024 to 30 households in early 2026.
