Abstract

This research departs from the fact that bookstores not only function as places to provide reading materials, but can also be learning spaces that support community learning activities. Toko Gumi Yogyakarta is an independent bookstore that organizes various literacy activities for children, parents and the community. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of the learning space concept in improving information services at Toko Gumi Yogyakarta. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the learning space concept from Kent and Myrick which includes aspects of access and linkages, uses and activities, sociability, and comfort and image. The research results show that Toko Gumi has implemented the learning space concept by providing space that supports literacy activities, social interactions and community educational activities. This implementation can be seen in the aspects of access and linkages, uses and activities, sociability, and comfort and image, although there are still several limitations related to accessibility and space capacity.
