Abstract
This study aims to describe the formation process of emotional intelligence among members of Sanggar Nuun and to analyze how the five aspects of emotional intelligence (recognizing one's own emotions, managing one's own emotions, motivating oneself, recognizing others' emotions, and building relationships) are formed through members' involvement in the activities and principles within the arts community. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Nine informants were selected purposively, consisting of active administrators, former administrators (demisioner), and senior members. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using thematic analysis by Braun & Clarke (2006). The findings reveal that emotional intelligence formation occurs through six main activities and six interrelated community principles. In the aspect of recognizing one's own emotions, members learn through Prep, Evaluation, and Afternuun School. In the aspect of managing one's own emotions, members are forged through the pressure of Routine Practice and Art Production, and trained through Prep. In the aspect of motivating oneself, intrinsic motivation grows from Handarbeni, Chemistry, and the principle of Dipaksa Dulu. In the aspect of recognizing others' emotions, members develop empathy through Bantingan and Ngopi. In the aspect of building relationships, social skills are formed through Ngopi, Chemistry, and Bantingan.
