Abstract
Sexual violence against women remanis a pressing public concern in Indonesia, intensified by a viral case of alleged sexual harassment involving a local brand owner on X and Instagram in February 2026, which trigerred widespread debate over digital solidarity toward victims. This study draws on Berger and Luckmann’s social construction theory (externalization-objecitvation-internalization), integrated with Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis, addressing a gap in prior research that rarely examines cross-platform dynamics within the Indonesian context. Using a qualitative netnographic approach, data were collected through non-participant observation and documentation of netizen comments during 8-10 February 2026, selected via purposive sampling. Findings reveal that pro-victim discourse emerged through a dialectic of there social-construction moments, while victim-blaming counter-discourse was suppressed through horizontal discursive practice. Intervention by dr. Tirta as a opinion leader accelerated the normative shift, and netizens invoked transcendental legitimation (“God”, “sin”, “karma”) when formal law was perceived as slow, eventually culminating in cancel culture and economic boycotts. The study concludes that public morality construction now unfolds through an algorithmically mediated social process, and that religiousity remains functionally alive amid digital modernity.
