Abstract

Fresh graduates are vulnerable to career anxiety due to uncertainty when entering the workforce. Interpersonal communication is considered a form of interaction that enables individuals to obtain information, support, and feedback in dealing with career-related challenges. This study aims to examine the effect of interpersonal communication on career anxiety among fresh graduates of the Communication Science Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method and simple linear regression analysis. The population consisted of 187 Communication Science alumni who graduated in 2025, with 127 respondents selected using the Slovin formula and simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 20 for Windows. The findings revealed a regression coefficient of -0.061, a significance value of 0.590 (>0.05), and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.002. These results indicate that interpersonal communication has no significant effect on career anxiety among fresh graduates of the Communication Science Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis was rejected, while the null hypothesis was accepted.
