Abstract

The development of historical tourism requires strategies that involve local communities in the preservation and utilization of cultural potential as a tourist attraction. This study aims to identify the Community Based Tourism strategies implemented by the Kotagede Heritage Trail Community in developing historical tourism and supporting cultural tourism experiences for tourist. The study uses the theories Community Based Tourism, historical tourism, and tourism communication as the basis for analysis. The method used is qualitative descriptive, with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, documentation, and literature review. Data validity was tested through expert triangulation, while data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study identify that Community-Based Tourism strategies are implemented through the utilization of natural and cultural resources, strengthening community organizations, tourism management, and continuous learning processes. These components support the development of historical and cultural heritage tourism products, well-planned tour management, and meaningful cultural interactions between local communities and visitors. The strategies demonstrate the central role of the community in developing sustainable historical tourism through cultural preservation, community participation, and the improvement of tourism experiences offered to tourist. These findings are expected to provide input for communities, governments, and tourism managers in developing sustainable, inclusive, and culturally oriented community-based historical tourism strategies.
