Abstract

The use of digital platforms at MAN 2 Yogyakarta still faces challenges, including social media and online-game distractions, limited awareness of data security and academic integrity, and differences in teachers’ digital adaptation. This study aims to describe students’ digital literacy practices, analyze the madrasah’s strengthening strategies, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors. This qualitative case study selected informants purposively, including the head of the madrasah, the vice principal for student affairs, curriculum staff, a teacher, library personnel, and students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The analysis followed the model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña with NVivo 12 as an analytical aid. Data validity was examined through source and technique triangulation. The findings show that digital literacy development encompasses digital skills, safety, ethics, and culture. The madrasah strengthens these areas through policies, literacy programs, device supervision, teacher development, partnerships, and digitalized learning, library, and administrative services. These strategies reflect the functions of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. Their implementation is supported by leadership commitment, teacher competence, digital facilities, funding, and partnerships. The inhibiting factors include student distractions, network and device constraints, limited funding, and teachers’ digital adaptation burden. Digital ethics, digital culture, data security, and learning supervision still require further strengthening.
