Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries located within the Pacific Ring of Fire, resulting in frequent tectonic activity. The tropical climate with high rainfall intensity increases the potential for natural disasters, one of which is landslides. This research was motivated by the high number of casualties and material losses caused by landslides, highlighting the need for a telemetry-based monitoring system. This study aims to design, develop, and test a soil displacement and rainfall monitoring system using an Arduino Mega, rotary encoder, tipping bucket sensor, and nRF24L01 module with Microsoft Excel as the data display platform. The system design stage utilized Fritzing to create the system circuit schematic. The development stage was divided into three subsystems: the data acquisition and transmission subsystem, the data receiving subsystem, and the data display subsystem. System testing was conducted to determine the accuracy and precision of the system. The results showed that the soil displacement monitoring system achieved an accuracy of 98.68% and a precision of 86.26%, while the rainfall monitoring system achieved a precision of 94.750%. Based on the measurement instrument standards applied in Indonesia, with an accuracy threshold of 95% and a precision threshold of 98%, it can be concluded that the developed soil displacement and rainfall monitoring system is accurate but not precise.
