Abstract
Drug abuse is a multidimensional problem associated with a persistently high risk of relapse, requiring rehabilitation strategies that address not only psychological recovery but also spiritual strengthening. Self-efficacy is an important protective factor in relapse prevention. However, studies examining the development of selfefficacy integrated with Islamic values in substance abuse rehabilitation remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the process of developing self-efficacy among rehabilitation clients as an effort to prevent relapse and to examine the role of internalizing Islamic values in strengthening self-efficacy at the Nawacita Jogja Community-Based Addiction Recovery Center (PABM Nawacita Jogja). This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. The participants consisted of ten informants selected through purposive sampling, comprising five rehabilitation clients, one post-rehabilitation client, two counselors, one spiritual mentor, and one institutional leader. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data trustworthiness was established through source triangulation, method triangulation, member checking, and persistent observation. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that self-efficacy developed gradually through four sources of self-efficacy: mastery experiences, vicarious experiences, verbal persuasion, and physiological and affective states. This process was strengthened through the internalization of Islamic values manifested in habitual religious practices, spiritual guidance, self-reflection, and participation in the rehabilitation community. The value of repentance (taubah) fostered awareness and commitment to change; patience (sabr) strengthened resilience in facing challenges; gratitude (shukr) encouraged a more positive outlook; and reliance on God (tawakkul) fostered calmness and confidence throughout the recovery process. The integration of the sources of self-efficacy with the internalization of Islamic values resulted in a model for strengthening self-efficacy that enhances clients' psychological, social, and spiritual resilience, thereby supporting sustained relapse prevention.
