Abstract

This study aims to find out the impact of the Hanacaraka class in the Jawacana Community on the literacy skills in Javanese script of its students. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with 117 respondents as samples, determined using Slovin's formula. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. The research findings are based on the results of descriptive analysis using the grand mean, the result for the Hanacaraka class variable is 3.57, which indicates that the level of implementation of the Hanacaraka class falls into the very good category. Furthermore, the level of literacy skills of Javanese script among participants after attending the Hanacaraka class is 3.25, which is categorized as good. As well as, the influence of the Hanacaraka class in the Jawacana Community on the literacy skills of its students based on the analysis results shows that the calculated t-value of 3.401 is greater than the table t-value of 1.981, which means that Ho is rejected. This means that the Hanacaraka class in the Jawacana Community has an influence on the literacy skills of its students in Javanese script. Based on the results of the simple linear regression test, the equation obtained is Y = 51.180 + 1.370X. From this equation, it is known that if the value of the Hanacaraka class variable is 0, then the literacy skills in Javanese script is valued at 51.180. This equation has a positive value which means there is a positive relationship between the two variables, meaning that each increase of one unit in the Hanacaraka class variable will be followed by an increase in Javanese literacy skills of 1.370. Then, it is known that the correlation value or relationship R is 0.302 from the output of the simple linear regression test and the coefficient of determination or R Square obtained is 0.091, which means the influence of the Hanacaraka class in the Jawacana Community on the literacy skills of its Javanese script students is 9.1%.
