Abstract

This study aims to identify the Gantari service innovation strategy at the Yogyakarta Library and Archives Service (DPK). The method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Informants were selected using purposive sampling techniques, consisting of one head of service and seven librarians who met the specified criteria. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the Yogyakarta City Library and Archives Service (DPK) applies various innovative strategies in developing Gantari services. The strategy in the collection aspect is focused on adding ancient manuscript collections through socialization activities and direct searches (hunting) in the Yogyakarta City community. The user service aspect emphasizes the promotional innovation strategy with social media, direct promotion, and print promotion of "Gantari Magazine" which is useful for introducing, attracting and disseminating information about ancient manuscripts. The use of technology services is focused on the strategy of presenting and developing a special website connected to Gantari for the accessibility of a shared online catalog that can be accessed by users at the Yogyakarta City Library. The program implementation aspect focuses on the ancient manuscript preservation program and the ancient manuscript literacy development program that presents innovations in the form of "Gantari Class", namely Javanese script, illumination, pegon, and macapat classes. Meanwhile, for the building management aspect at Gantari, the library presents the Gantari corner, namely a display area related to ancient manuscript information that aims to attract visitors. However, this study also revealed various obstacles and constraints encountered in the implementation of these strategies, each of which was examined based on the 5 (five) aspects that have been explained previously. These obstacles include limited collections, lack of skilled human resources, low public awareness, less than optimal use of technology, and limited storage space facilities.
