Abstract

The objective of this research was to developed biology learning module with CTL approach and character based education. In addition the quality of module was determined by the teachers and students. The main subject of this module was virus for X grade students of MA Nurul Ummah. This research was categorized as Research and Development Research with procedural model. Assesment instrument was in the form of questionnairs. Assesments conducted by the rasults of qualitative data were converted into quantitative data for assesment scores. The quantitative data were changed into qualitative data to determine the quality of the moduls. The result of this research was the module with CTL approaching and character based education on virus main subject that developed with procedural model with 3 stages. Firstly, the module was referred to the competency standard analysis and base competency that appropriate to KTSP, collected referrence, and designed the module. Secondly, the module was then validated by a lecturer as an expert, a lecturer as a media expert, three peer reviewers of biology education students. Finally the quality of module was assessed by two biology teachers and 10 students of MA Nurul Ummah. The result of biology teacher evaluation has shown that the quality of module is good with the best score is 91 poin and ideal percentage is 82,27%. The result of student evaluation has shown a great score that is about 55,4 poin and ideal percentage is 85,23%. Based on these evaluation the using of learning module by approaching CTL base of character education as proper to use for learning activity. Key word : module, CTL, character based education, virus
