Abstract
Arabic curriculum (syntax and morpliology) which are applied in Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) particularly in The Islamic Boarding School of Tebuireng and Mu'allimin Muhammadiyah are relatively different. Tebuireng used the classical text books (kitab kuning) like al-Jurumiyah, Ibnu Aqil, and Alfiynh Ibnu Malik, while Mu'allimin Mulwmmadiyali used the text books of Muqarrar al-Lughah al- 'Arabiyah that arranged by Mu'allimin itself. Tlierefore, there will be possibility of diversities and differences between the classical text books of Arabic and Muqarrar al-Lughah al-'Arabiyah either in methodology or in epistemology; and there are also may be fined differences in development of methodology and epistemology of each text book which is taught in different classes. Tliis article tries to analyze the development if methodology and epistemology of classical text books of Arabic and \Auqarrar of Arabic taught in both Islamic Boarding Schools.
