Abstract

Antropologically, all stage of social-life have own way of thinking. It imply that there is no hierarchy and supremacy among the great quantities of social life, because every social life has its own logic as according to its space ant time. If Foulcoult mention this as episteme, hence Thomas Kuhn mention it as paradigm, and intellectual discourse in Indonesia often call it as Nalar. Therefore, it is not surprising for rural society - as one of social life dimension - to have their own episteme, paradigm and nalar. The article in the following try to explore the type of episteme and paradigm of the rural society by taking example of the case of Saturday night religious meeting in Kalipenten, Kaliagung, Sentolo Kulonprogo. It is interesting to see that the expanding episteme among the rural society has shown the existence of pragmatic way of thinking, when this pragmatic way academically recognized exactly as attached at prosperous nations, like USA.
