Abstract

f sman ibn 'A/fan was one of the closest companion of the Tuphet. He ivus also one of the famous Caliph of the Four Caliphs" -al-Khulafa al-R&syidun- in Islamic history. But his wonderful leadership became less favourable, because he was accused with many accuzation among others, that he was accused of practicing nepotism during his reign. Although this accusation could be felt, but they did not bring much detail about his policy, particularly about political and social problems that Usman faced. This study is about analyzing the accusation that Usman was practicing nepotism, also answering the question that the above mention third Caliph was practicing a normal trend at the time. Pursuing historical approach and with doing comprehensive library research, and the outcome is that the Caliph Usman left behind a prestigious legacy during his leadership.
