Abstract

7776 Youth Oath is an event when all of the Youth organizations, like Jong Java, Jong Ambon, Jong Sumatera, Jong Celebes, Timorese Verbond, and many others, were sit together in October 28th, 1928, to pledge on a significant issue concerning about the unity of Indonesian people. From that time, the Youths has transformed their pattern of movements from etno-centric to nationalism. The Youth Oath has an impact on their struggles and idealism to reach Indonesian independence. However, the spirit of the Youth Oath, its idealism and realism, from inception in Dutch colonial era up to the present, must be kept alive to every young generations by inculcating and educating them to became aware of their political rigths and obligations. This writing tries to elaborate the Youth Oath, between its idealism and realism, via some historical accounts and political education point of views
