Abstract

According to Syed FaridAlatas the idea of science Islamization has been developing since 1970s. It is based on at least two reasons. First, the Islamic world didn 't have the tradition of social science that developed at the same time with other sciences such as philosophy, fiqih (the study of laws pertaining to ritual obligations), tasawuf (mysticism) and the science ofqalam (the words of Allah). Second, the developing social sciences in the Islamic society haven't shown their abilities to overcome many problems in the field of social, politics and economics faced by most of societies in the world that still developing including the Islamic world itself. The dynamics of science Islamization has developed beyond values to the coining offers of methodologies in many aspects of approaches and their understandings. According to Kuntowijoyo the time has come to go beyond the Islamization toward the scientification. In this exposition the writer is going to explain briefly about the Kuntowijoyo scientification model so that it can be an inspiration in the development of Islamic economics science. Using the historical approach Kuntowijoyo made a periodic division of the Islamic communities (ummat) and their ways of thinking; myths, ideology and science. In the stage of Islamic myths, it is developed through codification; in the stage of Islamic ideology, it is developed through Islamization; and in the stage of Islamic science, it can become a science and it is expected to give answers to problems in life based on the theories from the Qur 'an. Using the objectiftcation methodology Kuntowijoyo wanted to encourage the Islamization to be proactive in the empiric field (normative-empiric) to response the social problems through the spiritual consciousness, and the religious concepts that related to the social dimension can be derived into the objective empiric level (rahmatan lilalamin).
