Abstract

The issue of metaphor (Majaz) has been heatedly debated amongst scholars. The focused issue is whether or not the Koran contains metaphoric languages. All of them believe that their arguments are right. The first group argues that metaphoric styles can be found in the Koran but the second one percieves that the Koran does not contain such metaphoric ideas. The other group prefers to be silent and leaves it for Allah, all knowing. The metaphor meant here is not the opposite of the word "real" which is widely known in the science of rhetoric, but it is for the second meaning in relation to the verses of unclear-meaning (mutasyabihat). If this is true, the metaphor here is a part of faith domain In such circumstances, the problem appears is to know how the stylistic issue remains discussed in the domain of Linguistics. The observers of the Koranic language styles tend to believe that the metaphoric styles in the Koran are the miracle of the Koranic language. Therefore, most of them argue that the Koran contains the metaphoric languages.
