Abstract

This study aims to determine how the strategies employed librarians in The Agency Regional Library And Archives Special Areas Yogyakarta in the preservation of library materials. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Test the validity of the data using triangulation techniques. All data will be analyzed using the three stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are known strategies that do librarians in the preservation of library materials in The Agency Regional Library And Archives Special Areas Yogyakarta namely the existence of a librarian in the form of preventive measures for the preservation of physical activity such as provision of camphor, fumigation, and the prevention of damage from human and preservation of information in the form of over the media, rather than the language and writing as well as curative measures, namely the binding activity, and cellophane. To run a preservation strategy library materials in The Agency Regional Library And Archives Special Areas Yogyakarta there are obstacles encountered included the lack of human resources in quality and quantity as well as the existing infrastructure is not yet up to support the implementation of conservation activities and expected librarian The Agency Regional Library And Archives Special Areas Yogyakarta has its own preservation specialist for the field of conservation activities carried out in order to not only dealing with technical issues, as well as facilities which can be adequately used to support the implementation of conservation activities going forward to be more qualified.
