Abstract

This research by title “The Concepts of Ethics to Books (Study of Ibn Jama‘ah’ s thoughts in his book “Tazkirat al-Sami‘ wa al-Mutakallim fi Adab al‘Alim wa al-Muta‘allim ”) aims to know the concepts of ethics to books according to Ibn Jama‘ah. The function of this research is to give an overview and understanding of how the ethics to books for the society. This research is expected can give the understanding that book must get a attention and respecting from all of people. The kind of this research is a library research with its primary source from the book “Tazkirat al-Sami‘ wa al-Mutakallim fi Adab al-‘Alim wa alMuta‘allim” in which is the work of Ibn Jama‘ah and related some books as secondary source. The method of collecting data uses a documentation method. To analyze the data, this research uses a method of content analysis by using a descriptive approach. From this research, the author is able to conclude that the concepts of ethics to books according to Ibn Jama‘ah in his book “Tazkirat alSami‘ wa al-Mutakallim fi Adab al-‘Alim wa al-Muta‘allim ” there are eleven points that consist of five categories, these are: 1), ethics of buying books contained in the first and fourth points. 2), ethics of borrowing the books contained in the second and fourth points. 3), ethics of putting down the books contained in the third point. 4), ethics copying the books contained in the fifth and sixth points. 5), ethics of correcting the books contained in seven points, eighth, ninth, tenth, and eleventh. From this study, the author is able to recommend that the concepts of ethics to books is in the book Tazkirat al-Sami‘ wa al-Mutakallim fi Adab al-‘Alim wa al-Muta‘allim must be developed and adapted with the situation in modern era. This study also must be combined with some study from other scholars that discuss this case. In addition, the ethics to books must be noticed, studied and practiced by the today’s generation and the future generation.
