Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the digital library system at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library with the approach the subject. This study was an experimental study using a quantitative approach and used a sample obtained from some subject representative courses UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The research was conducted by means of observation, tests, interviews and documentation. In this study the effectiveness of using the formulation as a guide in evaluating the precision of information retrieval. The results showed that the total Precision digital library system UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library by getting the simple search subject tracking method getting precision of 0.86. Similar results were obtained on a simple search using the phrase that is subject getting precision of 0.86. The research of the effectiveness of advanced search using search field documents subject precision scores 0, search the subject field title provides the results of precision values of 0.72, using the subject in the search field abstracts score precision of 0.90, searching using the keywords subject to uncontrolled field getting precision of 0.72 and a subject search using keywords phrases in uncontrolled field to get precision of 0.72. From the results it can be concluded that precision of digital library systems UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library already qualified the effectiveness of information retrieval systems observed from precision, so that it can be said that the retrieval systems that are used by the Library of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta high enough to meet the expectations and effectiveness. ix Keywords : Recall, Precision, information retrieval, Digital library system, Library
