Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe what is done by the teacher when the teacher in the classroom or in the library and the constraints faced by teachers in motivating students to use the library at SMK Negeri 1 Depok. The research method used was qualitative. To obtain valid data researchers using observational data collection techniques, interviews, documentation. Data were analyzed with data reduction, data display, conclusion. Results of the research showed that the role of teachers in motivating students to use the library at SMK Negeri 1 Depok, namely: 1) Teachers as Informator library for example let you know that the material supporting subjects can be searched in the library, supporting a new book informs teachers according to the subject matter having previously held a procurement proposal book, and announced that the syllabus of the subject matter (such as subjects in collaboration with Colleagues and Customers) can be accessed on the internet. 2) The teacher as a motivator to use the library by explaining that the library resources and services fully utilized. For example teachers asking general things beyond the subject matter that can measure the extent of student knowledge about social life. It motivates students to diligently add insight by reading in the library. 3) The teacher as an initiator to use a library, to implement the learning in the library to take advantage of learning resources where students can read books or periodicals or by using the Internet facilities provided. 4) The teacher as a mediator to distribute information either through a referral source or supporting books and internet courses and other support facilities are available in the library. 5) The teacher as facilitator gives space to utilize library facilities and information are available at the library, for example by giving assignments to students who have worked in the library. Constraints of teachers in motivating students to use the library at SMK Negeri 1 Depok: there are some students who are less interested to the library, there are books that students desired but not available in the library, and students prefer to spend time in the canteen when a break than to read in the library. Moreover outside at recess students follow the teaching and learning activities in the classroom and students prefer reading books that are refreshing the mind.
