Abstract
This article discusses the problem ofgender and perspecdves on woman in reUgion. The author elucidates that androcentic and discriminative point ofvlews arose ouc oflanguage hmitation in grasping God's revelation, poUtical incUnations, patriarchaI tradidon ofthe Arab, as well as varietyofreligious opinions. These religious views are closely connected with kind ofmethod and approach that is etnployed in reading and comprehending the>reUgious or Qur'anic texts. Yet the text itsetfcan be approached by ways ofttaditlonal, reactive, hoUstic, patriarchaI or liberaI perspectives. The author asserts that the model of reading that may generate a fair understanding of gender is the hoUstic hermeneutical mediod. This type ofreadingnot onIy includes women's experiences and points ofviews, but ako accommodates the textual and contextual aspects of the text itself as well as its grammatical construction.
