Abstract
Students with disabilities often face problems related to self-confidence, especially when entering higher education environments that are not yet fully inclusive. Low self-confidence can hinder social interaction, academic involvement, and personal development. This study aims to identify and describe aspects of peer social support to improve the self-confidence of students with disabilities at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using purposive sampling techniques. The primary subjects of this study consist of five students with disabilities of varying types—visual impairments, hearing impairments, and physical disabilities—along with ten supporting subjects from each disability group acting as close friends. The technique used to determine the supporting subjects involves snowball sampling. Data collection techniques for the subjects were conducted through semi-structured in-depth interviews and documentation. The results of the study indicate that aspects of peer social support include emotional support in the form of attention, comfort, and trust; instrumental support in the form of money, transportation, services, and food; informational support in the form of advice, guidance, and feedback; and evaluative support in the form of criticism, feedback, and recognition. These four aspects were found to have a positive influence on the improvement of self-confidence among students with disabilities, particularly in terms of courage to perform, academic involvement, and selfacceptance
