Abstract

The research is aimed at finding out (1) the media used to promote Perpustakaan Daerah Pada Badan Diklat, Arsip Dan Perpusda Kabupaten Cilacap and (2) the significant influence between promotions toward reading interest in Perpustakaan Daerah Pada Badan Diklat, Arsip Dan Perpusda Kabupaten Cilacap. This study was conducted in Perpustakaan Daerah Pada Badan Diklat, Arsip Dan Perpusda Kabupaten Cilacap in 2013. The population using incidential sampling method consisted of 100 population were the society who became the library users. This survey research using quantitative descriptive. The data collection used documentation, interview, observation, and questionnaires. In addition, the validation Test Used Product Moment formula, while the reliability test used Program SPSS versi 19 for Windows. The finding showed that : (1) the media frequently used for promotion were printed media, with the score of 349, (2) There was a significant influence betwent promotions toward reading interest in Perpustakaan Daerah Pada Badan Diklat, Arsip Dan Perpusda Kabupaten Cilacap as big as 0.740 (positive) and p-value was 0,000. there was a high correlation as big as (0,70 – 0,79), in which the correlation test used Product Moment formula from Pearson Using Program SPSS versi 19 for Windows. Thus, it could be said that the promotion conducted by Perpustakaan Daerah Pada Badan Diklat, Arsip Dan Perpusda Kabupaten Cilacap gave influenceon reading interests. Therefore, the hypothesis stating that there was a positive and significant influence between promotion toward reading interest was accepted, while the hypothesis stating that there was no influence was rejected. Based on the research finding, it is suggested that the implementation of Reading Interest Promotion conducted by Perpustakaan Daerah Pada Badan Diklat, Arsip Dan Perpusda Kabupaten Cilacapshpuld be carried out maximally so that the society know the presence of Perpustakaan Daerah Pada Badan Diklat, Arsip Dan Perpusda Kabupaten Cilacap.
