Abstract

This study aims to examine internet utilization pattern by users Libraries and Regional Archives Offices Gunungkidul Regency. This research benefits for Office of The Library and Regional Archives Gunungkidul Regency, can be used as an input to program internet services. For observers of the internet, to find out how internet utilization pattern in public libraries. The study was conducted in Office of The Library and Regional Archives Gunungkidul Regency in June 2013. This research is quantitative descriptive research. The main source used is library users that the internet service utilizes The Office of Library and Regional Archives Gunungkidul Regency in June 2013, in addition to other documents that support this research. The number of respondents this study were 123 people taken with proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected by questionnaire, then the data is processed and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Interpretation of the data was based on the percentage of respondents' answers. Judging from the patterns of Internet use, most respondents were familiar with the Internet through the school (40,3%) and self-study (33.0%). To place the majority of respondents use the internet use the internet at home (38,4%), while use in The Office of Library and Regional Archives Gunungkidul Regency only 11.8%. Frequency of respondents in using the internet in The Office of Library and Regional Archives Gunungkidul Regency within one month at the most between 1-5 days (72.8%). Longer access the internet while on average between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Internet facilities are most often used is the WWW (53,4%) and search engines (20.4%). For the search engines almost all respondents used google (97.3%) in finding information on the internet. The use of the Internet by most respondents for information (32.6%) and friends (37.1%). In searching for information, respondents are many who use search strategies (37.6%), while the use of keywords number 74 (33.5%) and the direct search without using a strategy of 28.9%. Information sought almost equal between scientific information (44.8%) with non-scientific (55.2%). Find the information sought in the time taken by the respondents is quite fast which is less than 10 minutes (43.9%). Once the information is found the treatment of such information only download the most (51.1%) and reading / running in monitor (44.4%). Reasons respondents in utilizing internet services in The Office of Library and Regional Archives Gunungkidul Regency because free (45.3%), convenience (36.1%) and fast internet access network (18.6%). For perceived benefits, more than half of the respondents mentioned having the information needs (49.3%).
