Abstract

This research is meant to know about implementation curriculum based ”problem based learning“, know about the utilization of the library collection, know about the influence of implementation curriculum based “problem based learning” with utilization of the library collection in veterinary medicine faculty Gadjah Mada University (GMU) Yogyakarta. This study include quantitative research. Methods used in this study among others, observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Variable used were the independent variables (implementation curriculum based PBL) and dependent variables (utilization of the library collection). The sampling were using simple random sampling, with a sample of 88 respondents. Methods of analysis using correlation analysis techniques. Data were processed using SPSS version 18 for windows 7 software. Results showed that implementation curriculum based ”problem based learning“ is generally good with the grand mean value 2,70, and the utilization of the library collection is generally good with the grand mean value 2,87. The next is a positive and significant influence between that implementation curriculum based ”problem based learning“ with utilization of the library collection at veterinary medicine faculty of Gadjah Mada University. By the results ot the correlation, the magnitude of the correlation coefficient bettween the implementation curriculum based ”problem based learning“ and utilization of the library collection variables is about 0,461. For “r hitung” > “r tabel” at 5% (0,1785) significant level and 1% (02120) significant level, it is said to be a significant correlation. Of the hypothesis test results Ho rejected and Ha approved, which means there is an the influence of implementation curriculum based “problem based learning” with utilization of the library collection at veterinary medicine faculty of Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta. Suggestion (1) further research needs to evaluate the learning process that applies curriculum based PBL at veterinary medicine faculty of Gadjah Mada University. So the constraint can be known then it can be repaired, (2) it needs coordination between the tutors and the librarian in the preparation of block book so the collection in the library’s readiness to support the learning process can be fulfilled, (3) need to evaluate the availability of every block in the library, so the necessity of every block can be fulfilled.
